Jess's Review ~ Deranged: a Hades and Persephone Story by Monica Corwin

Deranged: a Hades and Persephone Story (Twisted Myth Book 1)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a unique take on the Persephone and Hades by a new to me author. I liked how the characters where interwoven in the story and each had a part to play.

Kory is Persephone and her mother is an evil senator. Kory gets "locked" away every six months or so and she is about to head into her next six-month stint when a one-night-stand throws her off her game a little bit. Kory is a lover of knowledge but doesn't have enough self-worth to stand up for herself. She has a mouth on her and firey personality when she wants to though. And then she meets her new doctor. Ash finds out on his first day of work things are not going to be what he thought was going to be. He has one patient, one he did not expect to see. Then things at the new hospital don't make a lot of sense.

This was a fast read and some things got wrapped up quickly, while others seemed to not. The author left a lot of room for growth in a series so it will be interesting to see where she is going to take it. Our two characters had a lot of chemistry but at times their relationship felt a little forced to move the story along. This book had that something naughty and twisted that I enjoy and she definitely reimagined the tale of old.
