Jess's Review ~ Fourth a Lie by Pepper Winters

Fourth a Lie (Goddess Isles, #4)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Pepper is a cruel, cruel woman...

Picking up right where the destruction left off, this book had me holding my breath, closing it so I could breathe, biting my nails, shaking my head...I don't know, I was up, I was down. I can't even form a good sentence and I finished this book days ago.

Sully became something else, something he needs to be to take care of the massive problem that has been brought upon his island. Battered and beaten, he is fierce and very much the God of the island. He also has this new weakness he never had before and trying to compartmentalize what he needs to do with his feelings becomes a feat.

Eleanor is one of the most resourceful characters ever written. Just when she realizes how much Sully means to her, their happily ever after is blown to bits. Not caring for the danger she finds herself in, she doesn't go down without a fight and still keeps her whit and grit about her.

Like all of Pepper's books, there is nothing quick and easy about anything. Everything in this series is a battle and with every book the determination of our characters grows just as the threats that surround them grow and become more deadly. The ending of this book was completely unexpected and while I should have known this was going to go places I didn't see I certainly never anticipated that and then for it to just end. I need the finish line because I cannot wait to see how this all wraps up.
