Jess's Review ~ Heart Thief by Ker Dukey

Heart Thief
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

This is an addition to the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection, this time it was Moana's turn.

Loosely based on the original, we meet Mona bound and determined to figure out what happened to her sister and free herself from her father's cult-like rule. Mona was never meant for the life she was supposed to live and with some dumb luck and two very brooding brothers she is going to figure out how her life is supposed to be.

This story felt short and I had wished it to be longer. There were some aspects that moved a bit too fast but I was all in to find out who the heart thief was and how it was going to wrap up. This was not quite as dark as some of Ms. Dukey's other stories and while it was not quite for the faint of heart I was expecting something a bit darker. This was sexy and sinister though, full of crazy cult rituals, blood, and a touch of mystery. I was pleasantly surprised by the "whodunit" part. But I felt like I needed more from our characters to really make a connection with them.
