Jess's Review ~ The Land Where Sinners Atone by V.F. Mason

The Land Where Sinners Atone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. Intense and heartbreaking. It had me all consumed from beginning to end.

Phoenix's journey is not for the faint of heart. She lost everything and everyone she thought she held dear. She is strong and tries not to let the grief of her circumstance consume her. She is intelligent but even she doesn't see the whole picture. Her life is flipped upside down more than once and when she comes out the other side, it gets flipped again.

Zach is ruthless. He takes his pain and inflicts that on others. He has a troubled relationship with his family and when the only person he loves is stripped away he becomes a monster. But what if he got it all wrong, what if he was so blinded by his need for revenge that he missed something monumentally important.

This book has a bit of the past mixed in with the present and really comes together in the most interesting way. There is more than one story at play as well. There is the mysterious unsub who has wreaked havoc on everyone's lives. Then there is Zach and Phoenix and while they are very much involved with trying to figure who the unsub is, they have their own story that needs to get worked out. They have tons of chemistry whether they are fighting or not fighting but sometimes that is not enough for these sinners. One of my favorites so far this year.
