Jess's Review ~ Treachery by Lily White

Treachery (Antihero Inferno, #1)
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Are you ready for the circles of hell?

Lily hit is out of the park with this one. Treachery, also known as Tanner Caine, is the Ninth Circle. He is basically like the glue, the ring leader, the one who attempts to keep the others in line, and often fails. These boys are TROUBLE. This book is set in the past, to see where it all began, and then the present to see where it all ends up. Tanner has long been Luca's nemesis. Little does she know, that is the point.

A full-on game of cat and mouse, a life that has very little influence from anything outside the circle, and some mysterious servers bring you this full-length tale. Luca and Tanner are far deeper than enemies, at least for Luca they are. There comes a point where I couldn't even believe she was still fighting him because I would have lost my will to keep this up long before she did. Tanner has a lot of things at play, he needs to do this thing for his father, he has his best friends running amok, he has this girl in his house that drives him mad and all the while he too is trying to figure out the end game.

Not only do we get the story at hand but we get introduced to the other players in the circle. All with their own devious personalities, some a bit more dangerous and some a bit more uncaring, and then there is the one that you knew had a hand in what was going on. While I enjoyed the push and pull of Tanner and Luca and their story was intriguing on its own, there was that one character who every time he graced the pages I fell a little more in love with him. And luckily he was around quite often and happens to be the star of the next book.

I am interested to see how this story bleeds into the next and while I know they are all standalone, there were some things that started here that were not quite finished. And I can't wait for the rest of this series to unfold. I love this author's dark and devious mind and these characters play well into her strengths for the messed up and twisted little details.
