Jess's Review ~ Unholy Union by Natasha Knight

Unholy UnionUnholy Union by Natasha Knight
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nothing like an ending like that! Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting and I cannot wait for the next book.

Every year on Cristina's birthday there has been this morbid countdown. For what, she has no idea but as the clock ticks closer to midnight on her 18th birthday there is this sense of foreboding and agreement she cannot escape. Living with her uncle, since her father's demise, she has been somewhat unaware of the deals that have been taking place around her. Damien is about to wake her up though and that sense of doom she had is well received.

Damien was not meant to be the leader but he is. He is on a path of vengeance and nothing, not even his terrible family will stand in his way. He is hard and unkind, but ever since that fateful night, he has felt the need to protect Cristina, even when his protection is in the form of holding her against her will.

Cristina is STUBBORN and she is not taking too kindly to her new life. She fights at every turn even when she feels things she does not want to. Damien enjoys the fight and fire but for how long can he keep this up, that is anyone's guess. These two characters were like oil and water, fighting at every turn but share the same nightmare.

This book had this dark and ominous feel to it. The storms, the bumps in the night, the paths that are being forged. I am not a stranger to this author so I expected a level of darkness to the story and she delivered. It was sexy in an unexpected way and really left me on the edge of my seat. I am ready for more now and luckily there is not too long to wait.
