Blog Tour ~ Behind Blue Lines by Christine Zolendz

Series: Behind Blue Lines Series
Titles: Resisting Love and Searching for Love
Author: Christine Zolendz
Genre: Contemporary Romance

To serve and protect... That's my job. That's who I am, and what I do. It's what I've always done. And when she comes back to town, She's all I want, All I need. But I know better. I refuse to give into my desire. I'll never hurt her, Never leave her. And my job alone threatens it all, Threatens everything. I have to stay away, Otherwise, I'll break her, Ruin her, And destroy us.

This was my first by Zolendz and I went into it excited. Resisting Love is told in alternating first person which I tend to gravitate towards. Liv was a funny heroine. She seemed to have a good attitude even with playing parent to her mom. Growing up with her neighbor and best friend, it's easy to see her fall for the older brother. Dean is your typical book boyfriend who struggles with the repercussions of his job as a police officer. Not wanting to bring anyone into his world causes him to feel so alone and empty. There was a lot of angst for such a quick read and you just want to shake these two and tell them to get over their fears and take the chance. There was buildup at the end of secondary characters which have you hoping to find out more and maybe get some answers for remaining loose ends. There was a lot of potential here but the depth I was expecting was lacking leaving you with a funny, predictable, quick read.
What you're looking for might be right in front of you...

BROOKE FURY Betrayed. Destroyed. Shattered. But, I'm used to it. After all, I'm a cop, and I've seen the worst. I just never thought it would happen to me. But it did.
Now, I can't trust anyone. Not him. Not myself. Nobody.
RYAN CAGE Determined. Loyal. Honest. But she won't trust me, Won't let me in. Even though I'm a detective,  I can't solve the mystery.
No matter how hard I try, She pushes me away. What she doesn't realize, Is I'm the one thing she can count on,

Searching for Love picks up right where Resisting Love left off. Brooke is a young police officer who is desperate for love and looking in all the wrong places. Personally I did not really like Brooke's character and found her hard to relate to. Ryan is her brother's partner and another officer. First impressions were set in the first book that Ryan was a bit of a womanizing jerk but during this story we find out there is so much more to him. We see a softer, protective, human side that makes us fall for him. Searching for Love is a very quick read that deals with some heavy topics, domestic violence and mental illness. Zolendz seemed to bring some closure for loose ends in the first story and left us with a happy ever after for Brooke and Ryan.
Christine Zolendz, a USA Today Bestseller, resides in New York City with her favorite NYPD detective and their two beautiful daughters. She loves reading, writing, wine, and caramel lattes.
