Shy's Review ~ Make Me Yours by Melanie Harlow

Make Me Yours (Bellamy Creek, #2)Make Me Yours by Melanie Harlow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again I'm reminded why I love Melanie Harlow books. Make Me Yours is a prime example of the excellent writing I've come to love. From the very beginning of the story I was drawn back into this small town and group of friends.

This time around single dad and widower Cole realizes how very not platonic his feelings are for his best friend's little sister Cheyenne. And for Cheyenne, she finally gets a chance with her big brother's best friend she's always been in love with. And while the siblings best friend trope is one that I'm a big fan of in my romance books, I have got to say that I especially love the way it was done in this story.

This wasn't a recognize your feelings and then everything is wrapped up nice and tidy and perfect kind of book. There are real feelings and deeper emotions that have to be dealt with even after the two main characters recognize their feelings for each other and admit to them. And it just felt so genuine and authentic the way it unfolded.

Of course there were the secondary characters that I also loved. I read the first book in the series and was happy to see that not only did I get to revisit with those two main characters from the previous story but there was also a bit of a continuation of their story in this one. That's not to say that you need to have read that one to enjoy this one. Because I didn't feel like that was the case. I really don't think that someone picking up this book without having read that one will feel like they need to stop and go back and read that one. But I think since I also loved that story I have to say again that I recommend reading it either way. But I loved the friends and family surrounding Cole and Cheyenne. I loved how they were a part of these two finally getting to their happily ever after. This was a five star read all the way for me and I highly recommend it.
